I would like you to meet Fred the Snowman. He was created by the guys in hopes that he would come to life and fix our driveway! (Our driveway was torn up by the city on Halloween because of a broken water main and still hasn't been fixed) I digress....
I don't remember any time that we have had enough snow on the ground to make a decent sized snowman. I have never made one more than about 6 inches tall. Our street was lined with all sorts of these winter wonders made by overly excited Texans in February. We picked the boys up from school early and had an epic snowball fight in front of the school. We all had a blast until we realized how wet and cold we were. The boys huddled under a blanket with hot chocolate and Toy Story and all was well.
On another note...I've been taken with the colors around my house lately. The green bowl with bright red apples, the beautiful pink tulips from Valentines Day against the dark blue-grey curtains, the bright green rye grass in the garden against all the bare trees in the backyard. I think I am just ready for Spring!
We have planted some of the flowers and tomatoes inside and they are starting to grow. It is a reminder to me that we can sow the seeds, but only God can make them grow. That is a tremendous wonder to me. I can plant them at the correct depth with the correct soil and water just right and place them by the window in the sun at just the right time of year, but I can't make them sprout. There is a simple glory to it and I thank God that even those little seeds are under His control.
I am on day 2 of a much needed 5 day break from work. I am going to go watch a movie and eat popcorn with my boys!
Blessings,
Veronica
