Who Are You?

An update on Layla...
The other day I randomly searched images of 'dingo' on google. Layla came up. http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/staticfiles/NGS/Shared/StaticFiles/animals/images/primary/dingo.jpg

Then Friday morning at the vet, I asked both the tech and vet himself what they thought she was. We all settled on that she might be an American Dingo, or Carolina Dog as they are also known as. I am fairly convinced that is what she is, at least in large part. Below is a website I found on Carolina Dogs/American Dingos. I am just now starting to read about who they are. Some of her behaviors are making since now too. She is fine with the kids and often affectionate with all of us. At the same time she can be aloof and acts like you aren't there. She is very guarded with strangers and other animals. She was aggressive the first couple days we had her with strangers and animals, but we are training on that. She is toning down, but still guarded. I still keep her on a leash with new people and animals. Anyway, interesting stuff. Apparently this type of dog is about as 'dog' as you can be in that they are very possibly linked to 'primitive' dogs. Maybe something like Layla is the animal Adam saw when he named it 'dog'?
